WAMEGO, Kansas  - Joe Capenter and Barb Downey run the Downey Ranch, 6,500 acres in the Flinthills of east-central Kansas. The couple have about 600 cows, 150 are registered Angus. The farm was started in 1986 and was assembled from 13 other landowners and is spread over two counties.
