Production up for most Canadian pulses
Pulses in Canada had quite the year in 2024 with prices closing out the calendar year in the middle of their trading ranges. Production was higher on the year for most pulses. Dry pea output in Canada rose to just short of three million tonnes, up from the 2.61 million harvested in 2023, according to the Statistics Canada principal field crop report issued Dec. 5.

More wheat, less canola in 2024/25 says Statistics Canada
While Statistics Canada reported more wheat was grown in 2024/25, canola production fell back as the agency issued its principal field crops report on Dec. 5.

Only small changes in latest AAFC estimates
There were only small changes to the updated supply/demand estimates from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) released Nov. 19. All of the other data in the AAFC report were carried over from its October report.

Harvesting in Saskatchewan is in the home stretch as warm and dry conditions for the week ended Sept. 30 saw a 12-point gain to 91 per cent complete, the provincial agriculture department reported.
