New land roller from Brandt

For those producers growing crops that require a very even field finish, like peas, lentils or soybeans, a land roller is a key piece of equipment. In February, Regina-based Brandt Agricultural Products announced they are adding yet another new product to their expanding line of tillage equipment with the high-efficiency land roller series.

Available in five different working widths from 51 to 91 feet, the land roller can be spec’d out with two different drum sizes — 36 or 42 inches. And they use up to a 5/8-inch-diameter drum wall thickness for durability. The larger diameter models offer well over 400 pounds of weight per foot to push down stones and flatten field surfaces.

That drum weight and its configuration on the implement is designed to ensure a consistent field finish without gaps, says Sheldon Gerspacher, vice-president of sales, dealer channel, at Brandt. “True drum overlap guarantees equal rolling pressure across the entire working width and ensures a consistent, smooth field finish,” he says. “A smooth, uniform field finish means you can cut closer to the ground and prevent valuable crop from being left behind.”

Heavy-duty design

Brandt claims the roller is built with a heavy-duty design to ensure longevity and low-maintenance requirements. That includes using 2.5-inch pivot pins with composite bearings and three-inch roller drum pins with maintenance-free bearings.

Standard features on the Brandt roller include steel hydraulic lines, a hydraulic wing-latch system, a powder-coat paint and primer finish, and a hydraulic hose management arm with premium hydraulic couplers to extend the life of the tractor connections, which further reduce maintenance requirements.

Buyers can also choose from several available optional features, such as mud scrapers, additional hitch options and oversized manual or hydraulically pivoting transport wheels for easier switching to operating position in the field.

Brandt dealers are currently accepting orders for the land rollers, with initial deliveries expected by early this year.
