For the second time this year, Brandt has added a new product to its product line — the DXT series grain cart line. These dual-auger models offer a choice of either a left- or right-side unloading auger. No matter which side you prefer to fill trucks on, the DXT carts can do it quickly.
“We like to say the last 200 bushels in the tank will unload as fast as the first 200 bushels,” says Brandt product rep Curt Borys. “We offer both a 22- and 24-inch vertical unload auger. You can get an 800-bushel-per-minute unload speed or over 1,000-bushel-per-minute unload speed with the 24-inch auger.”

Depending on the crop, powdery mildew may not be much of a yield killer for grain growers — but dust from the fungal disease can build up to cause fires in combines.
The DXT line will be offered alongside Brandt’s existing XT series cart models, and it will include four capacity sizes.
“We offer from a 1,150-bushel all the way up to a 2,500-bushel model in the Brandt DXT lineup,” says Borys. “There’s an 1,150, 1,350, 1,600, 2,000 and a 2,500.”

Along with fast unload times, having the carts empty out as efficiently and completely as possible was an engineering priority when developing them, he adds.
“We’ve designed this around achieving industry-best cleanup,” he says. “We designed the tank to a 42-degree slope on the sides to feed the horizontal drag auger.”

Easy to clean
The cart construction uses riveted panels rather than welded construction, which Borys says allows for some design advantages, including the steeper side angles. And the design avoids any internal ledges that would allow grain to sit and make cleanup more difficult.
To get inside a DXT cart to do a final cleanup or perform maintenance tasks, there is a ground-level access door and convenient steps for entry, making it unnecessary to climb up over the sides.

“We introduced that on the XT series grain carts two years ago, and it’s very popular,” Borys notes. “The ground-level access hatch makes it a lot easier to get in and out.”
A fire suppression kit is also available for the DXT carts, which is something that has become more valuable with what seems to be more frequent stubble and combine fires.
“We’ve seen the grain cart become a mobile fire station,” he says. “It’s the first responder unit a lot of times because it’s in the field.”

The option is designed to work with a foam-water mix, so it provides more firefighting capacity without having to carry as much water.
“We offer a wide variety of options on these to suit your farm specifically,” Borys says. “We have different wheel and track configurations available for every model, as well as the choice between the traditional left-hand side unload or now a right-hand side unload.”
