DSG Power Systems Offers Custom Setups

Published: May 2, 2011

Saskatoon-based DSG Power Systems is now offering custom-designed generators for farm and industrial use. The company will do a detailed assessment of a customer’s needs, provide a specific output recommendation and supply a unit sized specifically for that application.

“Seventy-five per cent of farms have units too big for their needs,” says Percy Hoff, president of DSG. That means they’ve spent more money to buy it than they had to, and now they’re left with a system that is more expensive to operate and more difficult to move around due to its size.

Croptimistic’s SWAT Cam has mapped more than one million acres, using sprayer-mounted cameras to generate crop and weed maps that support in-season analysis and future management decisions.

“It’s really quite a science sizing a generator,” Hoff adds. “What we do, for example if someone is running a grain-cleaning plant, is find out how many motors and what their classifications are so we know the exact amperage draw.”

DSG offers its own in-house brand of generators to fit a variety of applications, including both stationary and portable systems; and it can supply generators with an output of up to 150 kilowatts. For diesel-powered units, it offers a choice of both Perkins and Iveco engines.
