Comfort updates for Puma, Maxxum tractors

Case IH tweaks tractor lines with a few improvements

Case IH adds a little more comfort and convenience to some Puma and Maxxum tractor models.

In 2021, some Maxxum and Puma series tractor models were given convenience and comfort updates. The brand said those improvements would add to operator efficiency and make a day in the field just a little more comfortable. Among them was a redesigned hood for the 150 and 165 models, improved lighting and Hi-eSCR2 emissions technology for longer service intervals and improved fuel economy.

The brand says all of those changes were driven by customer feedback.

It seems those customers may have suggested other improvements as well. In February, the brand unveiled even more convenience updates for Maxxum tractors equipped with the MultiControl armrest and for Puma 160 and 165 models. The announcement was made at the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Ky.

Case IH, New Holland dealers to see more integration

CNH plans for “more than 15 new tractor launches, 10 combine launches, 19 crop production launches and over 30 precision technology releases between now and the end of 2027.”

While these new upgrades won’t change the overall look of the tractors, the brand says these small changes will be noticed and appreciated by operators spending a long day in the cab.

A new low-mounted windshield wiper helps improve forward visibility by staying tucked well off to the side when not in use, and the arm is largely hidden between the dash and the engine hood. To keep drinks and lunches cool until it’s time for a break, the cabs will get a new cool box to store them in, which is a feature most brands have begun including on tractors in this horsepower category.

And new aluminum steps make getting in and out of the cab a little easier.

Digital connection

To keep operators connected to the digital world, there is a new monitor bar with USB outlets to accommodate mobile devices. When it comes to control arrangements, there is a new “advanced” loader joystick with reverser to simplify operations. And a redesigned rear-view mirror provides a better look behind.

To add to the improved lighting package introduced last year, the tractors will get a new LED beacon, and a new electrical cut-off switch located just outside the cab door can isolate the batteries to help eliminate accidental voltage draw when the tractor is not in use.

Lastly, a new pull rope makes closing the tilting hood easier.

“Every enhancement we’ve made has been driven by what producers want and need from their equipment,” said J.E. Cadle, Case IH mid-range tractor marketing manager. “We’re excited to build on these design upgrades in the years to come.”

These may all be relatively small improvements, but anyone who has worked around machinery will likely agree it’s often the little things operators need to deal with every day that can be the most frustrating.
