As we all know, farming can be an expensive business. No surprise then when opportunities arise to save some cash on crop inputs, almost any farmer is going to sit up and take notice.
With this in mind (in alphabetical order), here’s our annual roundup of rebates available to western Canadian producers for the 2022 growing season.
BASF
Farmers can earn up to 25 per cent in rebates through the BASF Ag Rewards 2022 Western Canada Grower Program.
Producers can get up to nine per cent in Baseline Rewards by spending at least $20,000 and including qualifying products from at least two different categories or segments (there are four product segments in total: seed treatments, herbicides and broadleaf fungicides and cereal fungicides) with a minimum of 300 acres per segment. Another one per cent can be earned by purchasing $250,000 worth of Elite qualifying products.

Good news, bad news for fungicides meant to fight stem rot in canola
A report shows overall insensitivity of sclerotinia to three fungicide groups hasn’t changed in a big way between 2010 and 2024 — but shows some sclerotinia populations have been discovered with elevated insensitivity to all three.
Farmers can also get up to 20 per cent in InVigor Rewards by maintaining a minimum of two acres of InVigor hybrid canola for every acre of Liberty 150 SN herbicide they purchase, as long as they buy a minimum of 300 acres for each product.
Tim Bodvarson, commercial operations manager at BASF, says the 2022 Ag Rewards program has more choices for farmers and there are three new herbicides on offer as well — Smoulder, Voraxor and Certitude.
The Ag Rewards online calculator has also been retooled for 2022 to make it easier for farmers to determine their expected rewards, says Bodvarson. You can find the calculator at agro.basf.ca/AgSolutionsRewardCalculator/2022/West/index.html.
The eligibility period for the BASF Ag Rewards program ends September 30. For more program details, visit agriculture.basf.ca/west/programs-and-offers/ag-rewards.html. Farmers can also call 1-877-371-2273 or talk to their local BASF rep.
Bayer CropScience
BayerValue West Rewards is the rebate program offered by Bayer CropScience. It offers savings of up to 22 per cent on qualifying purchases in three product segments: seed treatments, herbicides and fungicides.
Through the Season Starter Bonus, farmers can save five per cent on eligible purchases if they buy a minimum of 300 acres of Bayer brand seed and/or Bayer trait products, or 600 acres of Bayer seed treatment.
If they buy qualifying products from two or three different segments (minimum 300 acres per segment), they can also save up to 10 per cent.
Through another feature of the program called The Incredible Bayer Offer, producers can get a seven per cent rebate if they book 1,000 acres of qualifying herbicides by March 4.
Bayer CropScience portfolio manager John Hanson says The Incredible Bayer Offer has been expanded for 2022 to include corn and soybean solutions in addition to cereals, and there are also new herbicide offerings that include Cirray and Laudis.
A new Innovation Reward has also been added to the BayerValue West program that showcases three new fungicide solutions, Hanson notes. Farmers can earn a two per cent rebate for purchasing a minimum of 1,000 acres of Proline Gold, Prosaro Pro and/or TilMOR fungicides. There’s also a seven per cent savings bonus for farmers who book 1,000 acres of qualifying herbicides with their retailers by March 4.
Farmers who sign up for BayerValue West Rewards are eligible to receive a complimentary one-year subscription to Bayer’s Climate FieldView platform and up to 50 per cent off the cost of the Climate FieldView hardware (offer applies to a maximum discount of $1,000 for select hardware purchased on the Climate FieldView order portal only). More details on the Climate FieldView offer are available at climatefieldview.ca/BayerValue.
Hanson states the BayerValue program is accessible to small and large growers alike, adding it rewards farmers for exploring and choosing more than one Bayer solution.
“Bayer believes we can cover most grower seed, crop protection and digital farming needs across all major crops,” he says.
The eligibility period for 2022 BayerValue West Rewards ends September 30, and farmers must register by May 1 to be eligible for program benefits. You can sign up by visiting cropscience.bayer.ca/Grower-Programs, contacting 1-888-283-6847, or by talking to a local retail or Bayer rep.
Corteva Agriscience
With Corteva Agriscience’s Flex+ Rewards program, farmers can get up to 18 per cent off the cost of eligible crop protection products.
Through the Seed Booster bonus, farmers can save three per cent on purchases of eligible crop protection products when they buy at least 300 acres of Pioneer seed and/or Brevant seed products. If they order their products by March 15, they qualify for an early booking rebate and can earn an additional three per cent.
The Flex+ program also rewards farmers who purchase from more than one category of eligible crop protection products. The categories are pre-seed herbicides, grass herbicides, broadleaf herbicides, cross-spectrum herbicides, canola and corn herbicides and fungicides.
For example, if you spend $5,000 to $24,999, you can save three per cent if you buy products from two different categories, six per cent if it’s from three categories and 10 per cent if it’s from four or more categories.
If you spend $25,000 to $99,999 or buy 300 acres of seed, the savings breakdown is as follows — five per cent for two categories, seven per cent for three categories and 11 per cent for four or more categories.
And if you spend more than $100,000 or buy 800 acres of seed, the savings are five per cent for two categories, eight per cent for three categories and 12 per cent for four or more categories.
“We really believe in making the program as flexible as possible, so we’re not forcing people into using a particular product,” says Kelly Bennett, Western Canada herbicides category leader at Corteva Agriscience Canada.
“We’re giving them lots of choice, basing it on categories where there are multiple products to choose from within the categories, so they can make the right agronomic decision and get rewards from the program.”
Corteva Agriscience also offers a 30 per cent discount on Lumivia CPL insecticide seed treatment with matching purchases of eligible pre-seed, grass, broadleaf or cross-spectrum herbicide products (minimum of 300 acres).
The eligibility period for the Flex+ Rewards program runs until August 31. You can find more details and the full product list at corteva.ca/en/offers/flex-rewards.html.
FMC’s rebate program is called FMC CashBack. Participating farmers who buy $5,000 worth of eligible FMC products receive up to 15 per cent off of qualifying herbicides. Producers can select any product in the FMC portfolio to enter the program, and there are no per-acre purchase minimums or ties to seed or herbicide traits.
Jordan Brisebois, product manager for FMC Canada, states FMC CashBack is designed to make things simple for growers and retailers. “We developed the program to ensure that growers could make the right agronomic decisions and the program would take care of the economics,” he says.
FMC CashBack has four rebate tiers that are based on spending at MSRP values $5,000 to $29,999, $30,000 to $49,999, $50,000 to $74,999 and $75,000-plus. Rebates range from two to eight per cent for pre-emergence herbicide products and from six to 15 per cent for in-crop herbicides. For more information on the FMC CashBack program visit ag.fmc.com/ca/en/programs/fmc-cashback-grower-program.
Farmers can also receive rebates of $2.50 to $5 per acre with FMC’s ACE Resistant Weeds Program when they purchase matching acres of qualifying herbicide products. Details can be found at ag.fmc.com/ca/en/ACE-resistant-weeds-program.
In addition, FMC offers another savings program called What’s Bugging You? where farmers who buy two or more 10-litre jugs of Pounce 384EC insecticide get a $100 per jug rebate on purchases of Coragen insecticide. For more details visit ag.fmc.com/ca/en/programs/whats-bugging-you.
The eligibility period for all three of these FMC programs ends on October 31.
Nutrien Ag Solutions
Nutrien Ag Solutions and Proven Seed have a rebate program called PV Profits, which includes seed, fertilizer and crop protection components, enabling farmers to save money across all inputs. To qualify for rebates through PV Profits, producers need to book qualifying products before specific deadlines.
Under the program, producers can earn a rebate of $1.10 per acre on matching seed and nitrogen purchases. If the seed booked is canola with an enhanced seed treatment like Buteo Start or Lumiderm, farmers can earn $0.50 per acre. They can save up to $1 per acre by matching Proven Seed Roundup Ready canola or corn with select glyphosates, or by matching Proven Seed LibertyLink canola with Interline herbicide. An additional $0.25 per acre can be earned if Shadow RTM herbicide is purchased for extra weed control.
The crop protection component of PV Profits includes a wide range of products from partner suppliers. By committing to buy 300 acres of Proven Seed canola, cereals, corn, mustard or soybeans before the booking deadline, producers can save between three to five per cent on eligible early booked crop protection purchases. The more farmers book and buy, the more they save.
Though some deadlines have already passed, growers can still book and save money across crop protection, fertilizer and Proven Seed products, only through Nutrien Ag Solutions. Details on all of these programs are available through your local Nutrien Ag Solutions retailer.
Syngenta
Syngenta’s 2022 Partner Program for Western Canada has four components — the Purchase Volume Reward, the Portfolio Reward, the Fundamentals Bonus and the Soybean Seed Bonus.
The Portfolio Reward provides farmers with an opportunity to save money by matching acres from three different product categories: seed treatments, herbicides and fungicides. Producers who match acres from any two categories of eligible products get a seven per cent rebate; if they match acres from all three Portfolio Reward categories, it goes up to 10 per cent.
Farmers who buy a minimum $25,000 of eligible Syngenta products can also save two to five per cent through the Purchase Volume Reward.
The Fundamentals Bonus enables farmers who buy 320 or more acres of Reglone Ion or Axial herbicide products to save five per cent on their purchases.
The Soybean Seed Bonus allows farmers to save $1 to $4 per acre on qualifying seed varieties by matching purchases with products from the Portfolio Reward categories.
Jon Habok, customer marketing manager for Syngenta Canada, says the lengthy list of products within the 2022 Partner Program touches on key aspects of crop production and provides farmers with plenty of choices.
The program features several new product offerings from Syngenta including Erebus Xtreme herbicide, a soybean seed treatment called Vayantis IV, and two new biological products, Draco and Megafol, Habok notes.
The eligibility period for Syngenta’s 2022 Partner Program ends October 31. For more details and an online calculator for program rewards, visit syngenta.ca/partnerprogram/westindex.aspx. Habok says farmers can also call 1-877-964-3682 or talk to their local retailers for more information.
UPL Agrosolutions
The UPL Grower Rewards Program offers farmers a number of different ways to earn cash back. The biggest savings come from buying earlier during the pre-season, when producers can earn 10 to 15 per cent in Smart Buy Rewards with a minimum 300-acre purchase of eligible products by February 15.
Farmers can save money on in-season purchases starting February 16, when they can earn Base Rewards of five to 7.5 per cent with a minimum 160-acre purchase of eligible products.
In addition, those who buy Interline and Select herbicides together (300-acre minimum) can get five per cent back on their purchases.
Also available is the Rancona Trio Bonus, which enables farmers to save two to five per cent if they buy at least 300 acres of Rancona Trio fungicide seed treatment plus another one or more eligible products.
With the Rancona Trio Top-Up Bonus, customers who buy 300 or more acres of Rancona Trio and at least 160 acres of either Evito, Roxar or Zolera FX fungicides can double their Base Rewards rebate up to 15 per cent.
Chris Nowlan, portfolio marketing lead for UPL Canada, says the company is focusing on Rancona Trio as a starting place for farmers’ buying decisions within the UPL portfolio. The label for the cereal seed treatment was recently expanded to include pulses and Rancona Trio is now one of the only products in the market for the suppression of anthracnose in pulse crops, Nowlan notes.
The Grower Reward rebates are designed to offer farmers simplicity and flexibility as well as significant cash savings, says Nowlan. “Growers of all sizes can get up to 20 to 25 per cent rebate on their product purchases with the UPL program,” he says.
The eligibility period for the UPL Grower Rewards program runs until July 31. For more information and a Grower Rewards calculator, visit cloud.upl-naconnect.com/grower-rewards.
