The T7X all-electric CTL from Doosan Bobcat won two technology awards at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show.

Doosan Bobcat, like a growing number of equipment manufacturers, has decided it needs to have a presence at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. And this year it won 2022 CES Innovation Awards in the categories of Vehicle Intelligence and Transportation and Smart Cities with its T7X, all-electric compact track loader.

“This machine is not only a technological feat for Bobcat, but the entire industry,” said Joel Honeyman, vice-president of global innovation at Doosan Bobcat, in a press release. “We challenged the status quo to deliver a connected, all-electric machine engineered for power and performance previously not possible. We are excited to share this advancement with the world.”

The CES Innovation Awards are presented for achievements in several consumer technology product categories and distinguishes the highest rated in each. Products are reviewed and scored by a panel of judges comprised of designers, engineers and technology media. Products are also evaluated on their engineering and functionality, aesthetics and design, and what makes the product unique and innovative.

The T7X uses a 62-kilowatt lithium-ion battery. The company claims each charge can support common daily work operations for up to four hours of continuous operation time or a full day of operation with only intermit- tent use. It doesn’t use a typical hydraulic system. Instead, it relies on an electric drive system, using electric motors and ball screw actuators. That, says the company, improves performance, and it gives torque characteristics as much as three times higher than traditional loaders. And it cuts down the total number of parts in the machine by roughly half compared with a conventional loader.

Rated operating capacity at 35 per cent of tipping load is 3,030 pounds (1,374 kilo- grams), with a breakout force of 7,127 pounds (3,233kilograms).
