The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture has signed a new sponsorship deal with Canadian Western Agribition as the national-level ag exhibition and trade show gets underway in Regina.
The memo of understanding between Agribition and the province makes the ag ministry a platinum-level sponsor and pledges $250,000 to the exhibition over five years.
The funding commitment is the “largest provincial contribution to Agribition in Saskatchewan’s history,” the province said in a release Tuesday.
The agreement “indicates the government’s continued recognition of the importance of Agribition as a global marketplace for Saskatchewan and Canadian agriculture,” Agribition president Shannon McArton said in the province’s release.
Other platinum sponsors of this year’s event include John Deere, the City of Regina, the Regina Hotel Association, SaskTel, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the Alberta provincial government.
Agribition runs this week from Nov. 24 to 29 at Evraz Place, formerly known as Regina Exhibition Park and Ipsco Place. The event generally draws over 135,000 people per year and features over 4,000 head of livestock and more than 450 trade show exhibitors.
