OMAFRA seminars aimed at farm advisors

The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) is again holding a series of annual seminars for professionals that advise farmers.

The Farm Tax and Business Seminar for Professional Advisors seminar will be offered in 11 locations across the province this fall. The seminar is also offered as a ‘Webinar” for those interested in attending the seminar via the internet.

The seminar is an opportunity for accountants, lawyers, lenders and other financial professionals to update their knowledge of tax, business and legal matters related to agriculture and farm business activities.

For week one they’ll be in Guelph on October 27, Ingersoll October 28 and Hanover Thursday October 29.

Week two they’ll be in Alliston and Kemptville November 3, Stratford and Belleville November 4 and London and Peterborough November 5.

For the final week they’ll be in Hamilton November 10 and Chatham November 11. 

The topics this year include family farm business structures, an OMAFRA business update, legal conflict resolution and the Growing Forward programs.

The registration fee is $150 per person on or before October 19, 2009 and $180 per person after October 19, 2009.
