Next year, there will be 20 new soybean options in the offing for producers in Western Canada. Here’s a look at what BrettYoung, Corteva, Dekalb, Maizex, Northstar Genetics, Proven Seed, Sevita International, Syngenta and Thunder Seed are rolling out for the coming growing season. Please note, this list only includes brand new soybean offerings for 2023.
Brettyoung
BY Logan XT is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean variety with excellent yield potential and early maturity. It is a tall variety with good standability and good phytophthora root rot (PRR) and iron deficiency chlorosis (IDC) tolerance. Relative maturity is 000.7 or 2200 CHU.

BY Rainier XT is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend variety well suited for the Red River Valley. It features strong seedling vigour and aggressive early growth with good PRR and IDC tolerance. Relative maturity is 00.5 or 2450 CHU.
Corteva: Brevant
B0071RX is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean variety with excellent field emergence and very good yield potential. Plants are of medium height with a bushy architecture. B0071RX features a strong defensive trait package with soybean cyst nematode (SCN) resistance (P188788), Rps6 and Rps1k genes for protection against PRR and very good IDC tolerance. Relative maturity is 00.7 or 2450 CHU.
B0061E is Brevant’s first Enlist E3 soybean variety with herbicide tolerance to 2,4-D, glyphosate and glufosinate. It features strong yield potential along with very good field emergence and harvest standability. B0061E also offers the Rps1c gene for protection against PRR. Relative maturity is 00.6 or 2425 CHU.
Corteva: Pioneer
P000A24E is an Enlist E3 soybean offering very good yield potential as well as excellent emergence and above-average canopy width. It also features an above-average IDC rating. Relative maturity is 00.0 or 2275 CHU.
P005A59E is an Enlist E3 soybean with very good yield potential, very good early growth and good harvest standability. P005A59E also features above-average IDC resistance and the Rps1c gene for good PRR field tolerance. Relative maturity is 00.5 or 2400 CHU.
Dekalb
DKB0005-03 is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean with a relative maturity of 000.5 or 2175 CHU. It is a compact variety of medium height with a bushy plant architecture and excellent standability. DKB0005-03 performed well in all tested soil types and has excellent IDC tolerance.
DKB006-80 is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean variety with a relative maturity of 00.6 or 2450 CHU. The plants are medium to tall and have excellent early season vigour and standability. DKB006-80 was well suited to all soil types and row widths tested and has a strong disease package, which includes excellent IDC tolerance and white mould tolerance.
Maizex
Jaguar R2X is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean with impressive PRR field tolerance and great IDC tolerance. It features a high, first pod height for ease of harvest. Relative maturity is 000.7 or 2200 CHU.
Wolf R2X is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean with strong yield potential, excellent seedling vigour and great agronomics. It offers a good, first pod height for ease of harvest. Relative maturity is 00.8 or 2475 CHU.
Northstar Genetics
NSC Arden is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend variety with excellent yield potential for its maturity, which is 00.2 or 2350 CHU. Featuring very strong stress and drought tolerance, NSC Arden is a good soybean for growers who want an earlier maturity soybean to perform on tougher soils. It has a very strong disease package with the Rps1c gene for protection against PRR along with an excellent IDC rating and white mould tolerance.
Proven Seed
PV 27s0005 R2X is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean featuring a strong disease package including resistance to SCN and the Rps1k resistance gene for PRR. This variety has a narrow row fit with strong agronomics. Relative maturity is 2175 CHU.
PV 28s001R2X is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean featuring a strong disease package with resistance to SCN and the Rps1c resistance gene for PRR. This variety has a narrow to wide row fit with strong agronomics. Relative maturity is 2325 CHU.
PV 004XF13 is a Roundup Ready Xtendflex soybean featuring a strong disease package with resistance to SCN and the Rps1c resistance gene for PRR. It is well suited to lighter soil textures. Relative maturity is 2400 CHU.
Sevita International
SI 00522XTN is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean for the mid- to late season zones. This variety is adaptable to a range of row widths, tillage and soil environments. SI 00522XTN has a strong defensive package, which includes SCN resistance, good IDC tolerance and the Rps1c resistance gene for PRR. Relative maturity is 00.5 or 2400 CHU.
Reynolds is an identity preserved, food grade soybean. This mid-season variety offers excellent yield performance and is widely adaptable across Manitoba. Reynolds has an average profile with medium height and great standability across a range of conditions and maturity zones. Its disease package includes good tolerance to white mould and the Rps1c gene for protection against PRR. Relative maturity is 00.3 or 2350 CHU.
Syngenta
S006-K3X is a branchy soybean that offers consistent performance in all yield environments. Well suited for wide and narrow row widths, this Roundup Ready 2 Xtend variety has strong standability. Its disease package includes resistance to SCN and tolerance to PRR and IDC. Relative maturity is 0.06 or 2375 CHU.
Thunder Seed
TH830009X is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean with strong yield performance. It produces a big plant well adapted for Western Canada and is recommended for producers north of Highway 1 looking for an early soybean variety. Relative maturity is 000.9 or 2275 CHU.
TH83004X is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean variety offering excellent yield performance and great agronomics and defence characteristics that make it well suited across a wide geography in Western Canada. It produces a tall plant with upright branches that stand well. Relative maturity is 00.4 or 2400 CHU.
TH82008XF features XtendFlex genetics, the latest trait from the Roundup Ready Xtend crop system, which provides additional glufosinate tolerance. Offering great IDC and PRR field tolerance and SCN resistance, TH82008XF also features a nice appearance with top pods and very good standability. Relative maturity is 00.8.
