Western Canadian Prairie farmers who want to try a new soybean variety in 2022 will have lots to choose from with 31 soybean options being rolled out for the coming growing season. Here’s a look at what’s on tap from Dekalb, Corteva, Croplan, Maizex, NorthStar Genetics, Proven Seed, SeCan, Sevita International, Syngenta and Thunder Seed. Keep in mind, this list only includes brand new soybean offerings for 2022.
Corteva: Brevant
B0012RX is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean with a relative maturity of 00.1 or 2300 CHU that maintains a medium plant height across variable environments. A consistent performer in fields with heavy soil texture, this variety matures slightly later than B0011RX but yields 4.6 bushels more per acre. B0012RX has Rps6 and Rps1k genes for protection against phytophthora root rot (PRR) along with an above-average rating for iron deficiency chlorosis (IDC) tolerance.

CP000521X is a high-yielding, early maturity Roundup Ready 2 Xtend variety with strong standability that performs well on all soil types. Its disease package includes the Rps1c gene for PRR protection and a good IDC rating. Relative maturity is 000.5 or 2175 CHU.
CP00121WPX is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend WinPak soybean product with top-end yield potential that blends two certified varieties to help manage variability within fields. It is a taller variety that stands well. CP00121WPX has a disease package that includes strong soybean cyst nematode (SCN) resistance, good IDC tolerance and the Rps1c gene for protection against PRR. Relative maturity is 00.1 or 2325 CHU.
CP000621WPX is a high-yielding Roundup Ready 2 Xtend WinPak soybean product that blends two certified varieties to help manage variability within fields. Suitable for up to 15-inch row spacings, CP000621WPX offers early emergence and very good standability along with a good IDC rating. Relative maturity is 000.7 or 2250 CHU.
Dekalb
DKB0003-24 RR2X is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean with a relative maturity of 000.3 or 2125 CHU. The variety excelled in the moderate- to high-fertility environments tested. This medium height variety is resistant to SCN race R3 and has Rps1c and Rps1k genes for protection against PRR. DKB0003-24 RR2X offers excellent standability and it is best seeded in narrow rows (seven to 15 inches). Avoid placing in poorly drained soils and those with a history of IDC.
DKB0008-87 RR2X is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean variety with a relative maturity of 000.8 or 2275 CHU. It is medium to tall in height and has a bushy architecture and very good standability. DKB0008-87 RR2X is resistant to SCN (race R3) and has Rps1c and Rps1k genes for protection against PRR. It is an excellent fit for no-till systems and is best seeded in narrow rows. Avoid placing in poorly drained soils and those with a history of IDC.
DKB008-48 RR2X is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean with a relative maturity of 00.8 or 2475 CHU, which provided consistent performance across soil types and yield environments tested. It is resistant to SCN (race R3) and has Rps1c and Rps1k genes for protection against PRR. DKB008-48 RR2X performs well in no-till and conventional tillage systems and may be seeded in narrow or wide rows. This is a medium to tall variety but it may shorten up in tougher growing conditions.
Maizex
Buffalo R2 is a Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybean with excellent yield potential. A high first pod height and excellent standability promote ease of harvest for this ultra-early maturity variety, which also features strong IDC tolerance. Relative maturity is 000.6 or 2175 CHU.
Pikas R2X is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend variety offering great yield performance and a disease package that includes a gene for SCN and PRR protection as well as strong tolerance to IDC and white mould. Relative maturity is 0.7 or 2175 CHU.
Komodo R2 a high-yielding Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybean with excellent standability. Its disease package includes a gene for SCN and PRR protection, very good PRR field tolerance and strong white mould tolerance. Relative maturity is 0.2 or 2325 CHU.
Badger R2X is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean offering strong yield performance. Strong PRR field tolerance coupled with the Rps1k gene provide great protection against PRR for this taller variety, which also features strong IDC tolerance. Relative maturity is 0.6 or 2425 CHU.

NSC Dauphin RR2X is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean that is suitable for applications across Western Canada. This ultra-early maturity variety features exceptional yields for its maturity and very good emergence and stress tolerance, as well as excellent standability and PRR field tolerance. NSC Holland RR2X is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend variety featuring the top yield potential in its maturity class. It is an aggressive soybean that works in all environments, soil types and row widths. ND21008GT20 is a Roundup Ready 2 Xtend variety that will be available for planting in the spring following registration. It matures considerably earlier and has improved IDC tolerance compared to ND17009GT, making it better adapted to a much larger area within Manitoba.
