Syngenta Canada has named seed growing and processing company Pitura Seeds of Domain, Man. as its distributor for NK traited soybeans in Western Canada, to start with the 2026 season. Syngenta says this marks a move to a new model for distribution of NK soy, “to respond more quickly to market needs.”
Both Pitura and Jackson Seed Service, the Dresden, Ont. company that will handle the same responsibilities for NK soybeans in Eastern Canada, are expected to connect with current NK traited soybean retail customers in preparation for 2026, Syngenta said in an announcement last month.
Pitura says it was picked to manage the distribution in Western Canada “because of our strong regional expertise and long-standing commitment to the seed industry.”

The Manitoba company emphasizes that this won’t affect how farmers buy NK soybeans in the West, as growers “will continue to buy NK Soybeans through their trusted retailers.” Those retailers, though, “will now work directly with Pitura Seeds for distribution and support.”
“Full implementation” of the new distribution model is expected to happen by Sept. 1 this year, Pitura says.
The NK brand is a nod to Minneapolis seed grower and distributor Northrup King, which dates back to 1884 and became a subsidiary of Syngenta in 1997.
