Pulses: Morocco to increase lentil imports for Ramadan

Winnipeg, April 13 – Following are a few highlights in the
Canadian and world pulse markets on April 13.

– The Moroccan government plans on importing lentils and chickpeas to meet Ramadan demand, which starts in June.

– The European Parliament has adopted a resolution to oppose reapproving the herbicide glyphosate, according to reports on Wednesday. Glyphosate is used on peas, among other crops, like canola and wheat. The decision will be further voted upon by European government officials.

– Delivered elevator 10mm Kabuli chickpeas in western Canada are about C$0.46 to C$0.47 cents per pound, as of April 13, Prairie Ag Hotwire said.

– Prices for #1 laird lentils range from C$0.69 to C$0.80 per pound, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire.
