U.S. Grain/Oilseed Review: CBOT grains end week on high note

Glacier FarmMedia – Friday was first notice day for March futures contracts on the Chicago Board of Trade.

WHEAT prices rose by at least 15 United States cents per bushel on Friday, with the Chicago soft and Minneapolis spring varieties achieving multi-month highs.

Warm temperatures and high winds in the U.S. Plains and Midwest regions have triggered fire warnings in those areas. Missouri, Oklahoma and parts of Kansas are expected to see some rain over the next week.

FranceAgriMer rated the French soft wheat crop at 84 per cent good to excellent, down four points from the previous week.

CORN prices rose to their highest since last month after the May contract gained in five of its last six sessions.

Two South Korean importers purchased a combined total of 201,000 tonnes of corn in an overnight tender.

Conditions look to be favourable for Brazilian safrinha corn crop planting this week. However, heavy rains are expected for the growing areas the following week.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported an export sale of 257,000 tonnes of 2025-26 corn to unknown destinations.

SOYBEAN prices moved upward on Friday after showing very little movement early in the session.

Safras and Mercado estimated the Brazilian soybean crop at 177.72 million tonnes, down 1.36 million from its previous guess. However, Rabobank projected the crop at 181 million tonnes, up two million from its previous estimate. Brazilian soybean growing regions have seen various weather conditions over the past few weeks.
