The loonie ended the day at US$0.7303 or US$1=C$1.3693, compared to US$0.7308 or US$1=C$1.3684 on Friday.
The U.S. Dollar Index was up 0.23 of a point at 98.08. Earlier today, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Russia with 100 per cent tariffs to be imposed in 50 days if Russia did not end its invasion of Ukraine.
Speculation on whether the U.S. would place sanctions on countries that trade with Russia pressured crude oil prices. West Texas Intermediate lost US$1.51 per barrel at US$66.94. Brent crude oil shed US$1.17/barrel at US$69.19.
The TSX/S&P Composite Index hit another all-time high at 27,219.33 on Monday before closing at 27,198.85, a gain of 175.6 points.
Gold declined US$9.80 per ounce at $3,354.20.
