NH’s Genesis T8 with PLM Intelligence

New Holland’s redesigned tractor comes with ramped up digital capacity

Published: April 8, 2019

New Holland Introduced the Genesis T8 with PLM Intelligence tractor series in February.

For several years now both Case IH and New Holland have both been owned by parent company CNH Industrial. While both brands have maintained their own independence to a large extent, a lot of the new technology introduced under one colour soon shows up in the other. That seems to be the case again this year, with the introduction of the new AFS Connect Magnum tractors, which has now been followed up by the debut of a similar model in blue: The Genesis T8 with PLM Intelligence.

Grainews along some other ag publications were given a sneak peak at the new Magnums in January. They were due to be publicly launched at the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Kentucky, in February. At that same event, New Holland pulled the wraps off its new and similarly equipped T8s.

Case IH, New Holland dealers to see more integration

CNH plans for “more than 15 new tractor launches, 10 combine launches, 19 crop production launches and over 30 precision technology releases between now and the end of 2027.”

While the names of the new features built into the T8s are different, their functions and performance look the same. The tractors get some design updates, most notable among them is the redesigned cab and customizable control layout. Those features are designed to improve operator comfort and ease of operation. There are also the front and rear camera options. But the real story is in the expansion of their digital capacities. PLM is New Holland’s digital and telematics offering, hence the name of the new tractor series.

“The most innovative features extend far beyond the cab with the complete integration of New Holland’s advanced PLM platform,” reads the company press release. “New Holland’s approach to precision farming solutions can be summed up in four words,” says Luke Zerby, PLM product marketing manager for New Holland, North America. “Open, Connected, Smart, Supported. PLM Intelligence maximizes all of these, utilizing ISOBUS CLASS III technology to keep you completely connected through MyPLM Connect and APIs to share and analyze your data, and now to enhance support functionality through one’s local New Holland Dealer. This is all through a simple tablet-based user interface, allowing the farmer to do more, and do it easier than ever before.”
