Last fall, Case IH released new options for its 4440 Patriot sprayer that should allow it to cover even more acres in a day — a larger 1,600-gallon tank and aluminum boom options.
The aluminum booms are available in 132- and 135-foot widths. These broad working widths not only get the most efficiency out of a single field pass, they significantly reduce overall machine weight compared to conventional steel booms. That means the sprayer can carry more product, hence the bigger 1,600-gallon (6,056 litres) tank option that is now available.

Last August, Case IH also announced it was making a new boom height control feature available on all its Patriot and Trident sprayer models.
The brand calls their new AutoBoom XRT automatic boom height “next-generation technology.” It automatically adjusts the boom position by using information from a combination of chassis monitoring and sensors, which “look ahead” to detect changes in terrain. The radar sensors can be configured to follow the ground or crop canopy and maintain a level spray platform. That, claims the brand, can significantly help maximize boom life. It can also improve the accuracy of product delivery, allowing growers to get the most out of their investment in herbicides.
