- A prisoner swap between Russia and the United States is reportedly underway, with Canadian-born Paul Whelan and Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich said to be released from a Russian prison. The release comes after months of negotiations.
- Iranian officials will meet with regional allies from Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen on Thursday, to discuss potential retaliation against Israel after the killing of a Hamas leader in Tehran on Wednesday, according to reports. Meanwhile, Hezbollah confirmed that a senior commander was also killed outside of Beirut earlier in the week.
- The Bank of England cut interest rates from their 16-year highs on Thursday, reducing the key overnight rate by 25-points to take it to 5.0 per cent. The cut came after rates had held steady for almost a year.
