Global Markets: Russia attacks Ukrainian inland port

• Ukraine’s main inland port across the Danube River from Romania was attacked by Russia on Wednesday, destroying buildings and halting ships from moving grain from the country’s major alternative route to the Black Sea. “Russian terrorists have once again attacked ports, grain, global food security,” said Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the messaging app Telegram.

• Iran will observe public holidays this week Wednesday and Thursday due to ‘unprecedented heat’ in the country that saw temperatures hit 51 degrees Celsius in the city of Ahvaz. Elderly people and those with health conditions were recommended to stay indoors and out of the heat, according to state media.

• Poland moved troops to eastern border on Tuesday after accusing Belarus of violating its airspace with military helicopters, according to reports. Belarus is one of Russia’s closest allies.
