– Israel’s military said it killed five more Palestinian militants, including a local commander, during raids in the West Bank on Thursday. Islamic Jihad leader Abu Shujaa, who was linked to a deadly attack on Israelis in June, lost his life during a raid in the city of Tulkarem. So far, 16 people have been killed in simultaneous raids in the northern West Bank since late Tuesday.
– Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) exceeded analysts’ expectations by earning C$1.93 per share on an adjusted basis in the third quarter, 19 cents more than estimates. Profit in its Canadian personal and business banking division jumped 26 per cent from one year ago at C$628 million. Meanwhile, the bank spent C$483 million in provisions for credit losses, its lowest amount in more than a year and less than the anticipated C$551 million.

– Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre wrote a letter to New Democratic Party leader Jagmeet Singh asking him to pull his support of the Liberals in order to trigger a fall election. Poilievre urged Singh to vote non-confidence in the House of Commons next month or be known as “Sell-Out Singh”. Government House Leader Karina Gould said earlier this week she’s confident the NDP’s supply-and-confidence agreement to keep the Liberals in power will hold until the next planned election date in June.
