- Indonesia has seized an Iranian-flagged supertanker over suspicion it was involved in the illegal transshipment of crude oil. The MT Arman 114 was reportedly carrying 272,569 tonnes of light crude oil, valued at US$304 million.
- A Russian military official on a Ukrainian blacklist due to alleged war crimes was reportedly shot dead by an unknown assassin while on a morning run in the southern Russian city of Krasnodar. Stanislav Rzhitsky, 42, had commanded a submarine in the Black Sea and was suspected of involvement in an attack that killed 23 people, including a four-year-old girl.
- NATO leaders are meeting in Lithuania this week, with the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and Sweden’s membership in the military alliance at the top of the agenda. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was also attending the meetings, and decried NATO for not yet setting a timeline for Ukrainian membership.
