- TransUnion released survey results on Tuesday of Canadian consumers, finding that 57 per cent said their incomes are not keeping up with inflation. Also, 38 per cent said they expect bill and loan payments to increase over the coming three months, and 46 per cent said their household finances are worse off so far this year. TransUnion conducted its survey of 1,000 Canadians from May 1 to 10.

- As NATO leaders gathered in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, reports suggested the summit could make or break United States President Joe Biden’s re-election bid. The 81-year-old Democrat performed poorly in a presidential debate against former Republican president Donald Trump. While Biden needs to quell growing pressure for him to step aside, most of the alliance’s European leaders are reportedly quite concerned about another Trump presidency. The summit is set to mark NATO’s 75th anniversary, discuss means to support Ukraine, and forge closer ties with Japan.
- More than 2.3 million people in Texas remained without electricity on Tuesday after Hurricane Beryl made landfall along the U.S. Gulf Coast on Monday. Beryl has since been downgraded to a storm and it’s now a tropical depression. As clean-up efforts got underway a severe heat wave struck southern Texas, with temperatures to exceed 40 degrees Celsius.
- Ticketmaster began informing its customers on Monday of a “data security incident” that might have leaked personal information. In an email, Ticketmaster explained information was taken between Apr. 2 and May 18 from a cloud database hosted by a third-party. The company said that may have included names, contact information, and payment card information.
