- Canadian wholesale sales dropped by 0.6 per cent in June compared to the previous month, coming in at C$82.4 billion, according to a report from Statistics Canada. Sales were down in five of the seven subsectors. The motor vehicle and motor vehicle parts and accessories subsector posted the largest declines, falling by 2.6 per cent.
- More than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed by the war in Gaza, according to a report from the territory’s health ministry, with more than 90,000 also wounded during the 10-month conflict. Officials expect the actual death toll was much higher, with many bodies still buried under rubble.
- Ukrainian forces advanced deeper into Russian territory on Thursday, according to reports. Russian officials estimated that 200,000 people have been evacuated from the border regions.
