Housing investment was down 1.9 per cent in the second quarter, the biggest decline since the first quarter of 2023. One economist said that “weak momentum heading into the third quarter” may give reason for the BoC to continue cutting interest rates.

– U.S. vice-president and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris touted a “new way forward” for voters in the first televised interview of her campaign on Thursday, sitting alongside her running-mate Minnesota Gov. – A convoy carrying medical supplies and fuel to a hospital in the Gaza Strip was hit by an Israeli missile on Thursday, killing workers for a transportation company, according to the American Near East Refugee Aid group. The missile hit the lead vehicle, while the other vehicles reached their destination and delivered the supplies to the hospital. The Israeli military claimed without evidence that gunmen seized the convoy, forcing troops to open fire.
