Feed Grains: South Korea rejects Argentine feed wheat shipment

WINNIPEG, July 26 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Tuesday, July 26.

– South Korea rejected a shipment of feed wheat from Argentina after finding strains of unapproved genetically modified organisms (GMO) in the cargo.

– Wheat imports have soared in Thailand after the government waived import tariffs in 2014, according to a Commerce Ministry report. This year, wheat imports could surge to more than 5 million tonnes, up from 3.46 million tonnes last year, as feed-meal producers enjoy zero tariff compared to the previous 27 per cent tariff.

– Bulgaria has harvested 97 per cent of its barley as of July 14, according to Bulgaria’s ministry of Agriculture. Producers threshed 157,700 hectares and harvested more than 700,000 tonnes of barley, which was 3.8 per cent higher than 2015.

– Top feed wheat prices in Saskatchewan and Manitoba have remained steady from C$4.50 to C$5.15 per bushel, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire. Top prices in Alberta dropped 14 cents to C$5.99 per bushel.
