Feed Grains: Russian grain exports running behind year ago

WINNIPEG, Sept. 26 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Monday, September 26.

– CBOT corn futures settled lower on Monday, as seasonal harvest pressure weighed on values. The December contract was down 3.25 cents at US$3.3675 per bushel.

– Saudi Arabia, one of the world’s largest barley importers, will see grain import duties move from its finance ministry to the Saudi General Grains Organization (SAGO).

– Russia exported 7.8 million tonnes of grain from July 1 through September 21, according to reports. That was down from the 8.6 million tonnes exported during the same time period the previous year.

– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$160 to C$165 per tonne range as of September 23, which were unchanged from the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Feed wheat prices moved up slightly, to range from C$180 to C$195 in Lethbridge.
