Feed Grains: Global customers for grain, feeds look to Brazil

WINNIPEG, July 14 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Thursday, July 14.

– With global demand for grain and animal feeds expected to increase, analysts are zoning in on Brazil to step up and fill demand, according to reports. Brazil has 75 million hectacres of underused pasturelands that can be used to increase supply.

– Rain is causing extreme haying delays in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Quality is decreasing in downed crops and standing crops, raising concerns with how prices will be this season, according to reports.

– Egypt, the world’s biggest wheat buyer, issued a final rejection of a cargo of US grain, stating it contained ergot fungus levels exceeding internationally acceptable standards. The 33,000-tonne shipment contained 0.096 per cent ergot, almost twice the 0.05 per cent level allowed.

– Feed Barley in western Canada remained steady with top prices of C$3.40 to C$4.46 per bushel, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire. Feed Wheat also remained steady with top prices ranging from C$4.50 to C$6.26 per bushel.
