WINNIPEG, Sept. 22 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Thursday, September 22.
– CBOT corn futures settled lower on Thursday, as seasonal harvest pressure weighed on values. The December contract was down 3.25 cents at US$3.3675 per bushel.
– Weekly US corn export sales of 921,000 tonnes came in at the high end of trade estimates.
– Alberta’s Western Feedlots, which has a 100,000 head capacity, announced it was shutting down operations. The move has the potential to cut into feed demand in the province if that capacity isn’t taken up elsewhere.
– Hungary’s corn crop is forecast at 8 million tonnes by officials with the country’s Ministry of Agriculture.
– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$160 to C$165 per tonne range as of September 16, which was down by as much as C$5 per tonne from the previous week. Feed wheat prices posted similar losses, to range from C$178 to C$190 in Lethbridge.
