Grain company Viterra (formerly Sask Wheat Pool) has announced the introduction of its first self-branded crop protection product for Western Canadian farmers.

Cypress, a herbicide offered exclusively through Viterra, is a new option for spring wheat and durum growers in the brown and dark brown soil zones.

Get farmers in on federal water security strategy planning, CFA says

Farmers should be involved in the development of a Canadian fresh water security strategy, the Canadian Federation of Agriculture says.

Viterra says Cypress is a cost-effective, solid performer that will help our farm customers manage their bottom line and take advantage of new bundling opportunities.

Based on the Syngneta herbicides Horizon and Target, Cypress provides control of grassy weeds such as wild oats and green foxtail, and will control many of the challenging problem weeds found in brown soil areas.

Viterra customers who have a 2008 production contract for AC Navigator Durum will be eligible for a special Loyalty Payment when they purchase Cypress. All marketing, sales and support of Cypress will be provided by Viterra.
