Ontario’s GFO names marketing, PR leads

Published: November 6, 2009

The new association for Ontario’s 28,000 wheat, corn and soybean growers has turned to the province’s wheat board for its new chiefs of marketing and public affairs.

Todd Austin, previously a grain merchandiser with the Ontario Wheat Producers’ Marketing Board (OWPMB), has been named marketing manager for the new Grain Farmers of Ontario (GFO).

Austin, the group said, “will play an important role within GFO to  maintain existing wheat marketing and pooling programs and grain policies. He will also develop and coordinate the implementation of new programs and manage the promotion of Ontario grains both domestically and internationally.”

Erin Fletcher, previously stakeholder relations manager for OWPMB, will be the GFO’s manager of public affairs and communications.

Fletcher is to “develop and lead a proactive public affairs program to communicate to members, government and the general public about the ongoing work at the GFO.”

The GFO is the merged entity for the Ontario Soybean Growers, Ontario Corn Producers’ Association and OWPMB.
