Bill Laidlaw has been named the new general manager for the Chicken Farmers of Ontario.
Laidlaw has worked in not-for-profit and association management since 2000, most recently as executive director of The Biotechnology Initiative and the Canadian Biotechnology Education Resource Centre. He also previously worked as the CEO for St. John Ambulance in Ontario and as CEO for the Ontario Community Newspapers Association.
According to a CFO release Tuesday, Laidlaw has also worked in the human resources sector for companies including The Bay, Royal Trust and Glaxo Canada. From there he became director of government relations for drug company GlaxoWellcome, a job he held for 10 years, during which time he was lauded in the industry for his leadership role in lobbying for changes in intellectual property protection for brand-name drugs.
In a volunteer capacity, he has also worked as CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and as president of the Empire Club of Canada and of the Metropolitan Toronto Lung Association.
Laidlaw starts work with the CFO next month.
