Ontario dairy farmer John Core, the CEO of the Canadian Dairy Commission since 2002, has been re-appointed to the post for another year by Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz.
Core served as both CEO and chairman of the commission from 2002 until the two positions were split in April this year. He was also previously a president (1999-2001) and board member (1986-2001) of the Dairy Farmers of Canada and chair of the Dairy Farmers of Ontario (1990-2001).
The Dairy Commission co-ordinates federal and provincial dairy policies and set up the control mechanism to stabilize revenues and manage surpluses in Canadian milk production.
Core’s one-year term begins immediately, Ritz announced Friday.
