Canadian Financial Close: C$ steady

Glacier FarmMedia MarketsFarm – The Canadian dollar held relatively steady on Friday, lacking any clear direction as traders moved to the sidelines ahead of the Victoria Day long weekend.

The Canadian dollar settled at US$0.7345 or US$1=C$1.3615 on Friday, which compares with Thursday’s close of US$0.7342 or US$1=C$1.3620.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil was stronger, up 0.93 per cent at US$79.97 per barrel.

The TSX Composite Index was up by 165.54 points to close at 22,465.37 points.

 

Canada’s agricultural sector performed as follows:

Linamar Corp.——————–up  $ 0.06    at $ 71.87

Maple Leaf Foods—————–dn  $ 0.15    at $ 23.67

Nutrien Ltd.———————up  $ 0.72    at $ 78.58

RB Global Inc.——————-dn  $ 0.09    at $102.10

Farmers Edge Inc.—————-    $ 0.00    at $  0.345
