Glacier FarmMedia — The Canadian dollar was slightly softer Friday morning.
At 9:15 a.m. CDT the Canadian dollar was trading at US$0.7269 or US$1=C$1.3757 which compares with Thursday’s close of US$0.7271 or US$1=C$1.3753.
Canada’s unemployment rate held steady at 6.9 per cent in July, reported Statistics Canada. Employment dipped by 0.2 points at 60.7 per cent, with 41,000 fewer jobs reported.
Crude oil was softer in early trade, with West Texas Intermediate down 0.63 per cent at US$63.48 per barrel.
The TSX was up 86.85 points at 9:30 CDT to trade at 27,848.12.
