Canadian dollar and business outlook

WINNIPEG, April 7 The Canadian dollar eased relative to the US dollar Tuesday morning, undermined by weakness in crude oil values, analysts said.

At 8:58 CDT Tuesday, the Canadian dollar was at US$0.8000 or US$=C$1.2500, which compares with Monday’s North American close of US$0.8014 or US$1=C$1.2478.

General strength in the US dollar index was also undermining the Canadian currency, brokers said.

Ongoing concerns about slow economic growth in Canada were also bearish.

The TSX was up 81.96 points, or 0.54%, at 8:58 CDT Tuesday morning to sit at 15,182.61.
