Every year mom Karla Porteous sends out a photo Christmas letter. A savvyGrainewsreader saw this last year’s offering and suggested

And so she did.

Karla took this great photo of her boys, Landon and Kale, aged five and three at the time, while they were watching their grandpa and uncle work moving grain in the fall. She says that it was a perfect moment to catch them so eagerly interested in the happenings of the farming and ranching operation. Karla, her husband Garth and the boys live on a ranch in southern Alberta, along the South Saskatchewan River. Thanks for taking the time to send in the photo, Karla. There’s a cheque for $25 on its way.

We welcome your photos. But before you send one, make sure the focus is crisp and, if it’s a photo of people, we want to see the whites of their eyes. In a 4×6-inch print, faces should be at least the size of a quarter. Emailed digital photos with medium to high resolution work best. Scans of prints are rarely good enough to reprint. If we use your photo, we’ll send you $25. — Lyndsey
