Photocontest – for Feb. 7, 2011

Then five-year-old Dawson Moser from Killam, Alta., takes a break from helping out at his uncle’s cattle branding, where 650 head were branded for Anchor Lazy U Ranch, with 25 cowboys helping out. Dawson helped bring in one of the herds on his horse Ben. The annual branding takes about three days, says Dawson’s mum Kelli Moser, and is enjoyed by the many who attend, especially the little cowboys who are able to be involved on different levels. Thanks to Dawson’s mum who took the photo. There’s $25 in the mail for your trouble.

We welcome your photos. But before you send one, make sure the focus is crisp and, if it’s a photo of people, we want to see the whites of their eyes. In a 4×6-inch print, faces should be at least the size of a quarter. Emailed digital photos with medium to high resolution work best. Scans of prints are rarely good enough to reprint. If we use your photo, we’ll send you $25.
