Mark Calow (on the left) and Michael Wong (on the right) catch up on some essential reading while serving in Afghanistan. Mark receives Grainews in every parcel his family sends him so he can keep tabs on what’s happening in western Canadian agriculture. Mark and Michael are reservists with the North Saskatchewan Regiment in Saskatoon. They are currently attached to Second Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) out of Shilo, Man., for this tour. This is the first tour for both of them. They will be returning sometime late this spring. Thanks to Mike Weisbrod (Mark’s father-in-law) and Jenny Calow (Mark’s wife) for sending Grainews so far away and for sending us the photo. There’s $25 in the mail for you as thanks.
We welcome your photos. But before you send one, make sure the focus is crisp and, if it’s a photo of people, we want to see the whites of their eyes. In a four by six-inch print, faces should be at least the size of a quarter. Emailed digital photos with medium to high resolution work best. Scans of prints are rarely good enough to reprint. If we use your photo, we’ll send you $25.
