Global Markets: US health care vote watched

By Commodity News Service Canada

WINNIPEG, March 23 (CNS Canada) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– The US House of Representatives is set to vote today on the ‘American Health Care Act,’ a bill that would begin the process of ending ‘Obamacare.’ The financial markets are following the situation closely, as this should provide an early test of how easily/or not President Donald Trump will be able to move forward with his agenda.

– Canadians receiving Employment Insurance held steady at 567,900 in January, down only 0.3 per cent from the previous month, according to Statistics Canada data.

– Crude oil prices are trading near their lowest levels in four months, as large US supplies remain more than enough to counter any cuts in OPEC production.
