Global Markets: Rotating postal strikes enter fifth week

WINNIPEG, Nov. 13 (CNS Canada) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– Little progress was made over the weekend in the Canada Post labour dispute, now in its fifth week, as rotating strikes continue across the country. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has warned his federal government may legislate striking postal workers back to work if the dispute is not soon resolved.

– Cannabis production in Canada is expected to balloon by 2022. Currently production of legal and medicinal cannabis is about 290,000 pounds. That is set to skyrocket to 1.1 million pounds in the next four years.

– The death toll in the California wildfires climbed to 42 people over the weekend. The remains of victims trying to escape the fires were discovered in their vehicles. More than 7,000 homes and buildings have been destroyed.
