Global Markets: Oil prices gain for four straight months

WINNIPEG, November 1 (CNS) – The following is a glance at
the news moving markets in Canada and globally.
For the first time in nearly three years, oil made gains
for four straight months. Oil gained seven per cent in October
and Wednesday it rose to its highest price since mid-2015 with
Brent crude futures at US$61.49 per barrel.
Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan said Tuesday it will sell
its 30 per cent stake in the Bristol and Birmingham airports to
Australia’s New South Wales Treasury Corp and investment firm
Sunsuper Superannuation Fund. Following the sale Ontario
Teachers’ will hold a 70 per cent stake in the Bristol airport
and a 33.8 per cent stake in the Birmingham airport.
Torstar Corp, the publisher of the Toronto Star, reported a
bigger-than-expected loss in the third quarter, as its print
business attracted fewer advertisers. Torstar said Wednesday its
print advertising revenue fell 15 per cent.
