EURO ZONE MANUFACTURING ACTIVITY UP
Manufacturing activity in the euro zone increased in September, according to reports out of the country on Monday.
Strong demand in Germany helped push up activity, market watchers say.
However, manufacturing was weaker in Spain, Italy, Ireland and France.
INDIA’S GOLD IMPORTS DROP FOR NINTH CONSECUTIVE MONTH
India’s gold imports dropped in September, marking the ninth consecutive month of declines, according to reports out of the country.
Market watchers say lower demand from India, the second-largest importer of the commodity, could weigh on prices.
CANADIAN ASPHALT SHINGLE SHIPMENTS DOWN FROM YEAR-AGO LEVELS
Shipments of asphalt shingles totalled 3.3 million metric bundles in August, down 17.8 per cent from July, but up 6.5 per cent from August 2015, Statistics Canada said in a report on Monday.
Production of asphalt shingles decreased 2.6 per cent compared with July to 2.8 million metric bundles in August, while it was up 13.9 per cent compared with August 2015.
