Having trouble loosening a stubborn drain plug that uses a compressible metal gasket? Before you damage it, get a hammer. Yes, a hammer. A few firm hits will loosen a drain plug and allow you to put a wrench on it and easily turn it out.
The hits should be firm, and it might take a couple. But don’t get carried away. This is one of those occasions when a little is good, but a lot isn’t necessarily a lot better. Hitting a plug in an engine oil pan too hard can deform the pan.
