CROPWATCH 2011: Let the crop checkups begin

NEW FEATURE: How’s your crop doing? Too much moisture? Too little? Any pest or disease problems?

Those are often the topics you discuss with your friends, family and neighbours in the field or over a cup of coffee, but through CropWatch 2011, a new feature at, we’d like to bring farmers across the Prairies into the conversation.

You can just let us know about crop progress in general, or if you have any unusual weather of the good, bad or ugly variety. Photos are especially welcome. To pay a visit and add your voice to the discussion, CLICK HERE.

Also, if you notice any problems in your crops or have any questions, here’s where you can let us know about them as well, and we’ll see if we can find an answer. We’ll be keeping in touch with our network of public and private agronomists and farmer contributors who may be able to help.

We’ll also try to post other information that crosses our desks, from the general (provincial crop updates) to the specific (warnings about emerging pests).

Farmers in Eastern Canada can also look forward to their own CropWatch, which will be set up at the website of Grainews‘ sister magazine, the eastern edition of Country Guide, in the coming days.
