“Maple Leaf ledger recovering from meat recalls,” July 30

Maple Leaf profits are on the rise; in this article there is no mention of the hog producer that is going broke on the price of hogs. The producer is supposed to live on the love of Maple Leaf Foods. I would really like to know how viable the hog producers are right now, and — a big “if” — if the processors are helping them. — David Best

“High heat packaging developed for beef industry,” Aug. 14

Meat cooked in plastic bags sounds nasty and dangerous. What kind of toxins are being leached into the meat through this process? I want to see some “independent” testing. — Chris Hooymans
