Mark your calen- dars for the annual International Livestock Congress (ILC) being held August 10 in conjunction with the Canadian Cattleman’s Association Semi Annual Meeting in Calgary.
The CCA meeting runs August 8-12, with an excellent one-day ILC program offered in the middle. Both events are at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino, just off the Deerfoot Trail in southeast Calgary.
A number of excellent speakers are lined up for the congress providing the latest reports on the international economy, how our Canadian beef competes globally and what lies ahead in these changing times.
Dr. Stan Blade, Chief Executive Officer, Alberta Innovates, Edmonton, will open the congress by welcoming all delegates, speakers and the ILC student representatives from Canada and around the world, at 8 a.m.
The Congress opening message will be delivered by Travis Toews, President, CCA. Then, Glen Hodgson, Senior Vice- President and Chief Economist, The Conference Board of Canada, Ottawa, will present on “The Multi-speed Recovery.” The day is full of top industry speakers addressing issues such as Canada- EU trade outlook, production challenges, cattle and beef market developments, changes in the North American beef industry, upcoming consumer influence and retail trends.
After a full day of discussions and debate, the ILC/CCA Barbeque takes place ($45 plus GST per person) at The Ranche, Fish Creek Park in Calgary.
