With competition from industry and oilfields, crop input service providers across the prairie have faced a challenge in recruiting and maintaining good quality employees. So as an employer if you can provide a special bonus to a valued employee to help keep him or her on staff, that could make the difference. AGCO wants to help at least one Canadian ag retailer do just that.

For the ninth consecutive year, the Application Equipment division of the brand is opening nominations for its Operator of the Year competition. It’s looking for employers to nominate their best custom sprayer operator. And if you’re a customer of an ag retailer and have been impressed by the service provided by a particular operator, you ought to press your retailer to nominate that person, according to AGCO.

Up for grabs is a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle for the winner of the Operator of the Year competition. There will be one U.S. and one Canadian winner.

Ag retailers throughout the U.S. and Canada are encouraged to nominate their best applicators based not only on their application knowledge, customer service and performance applying fertilizer and crop protection products in the field, but also service to their local communities,” reads the AGCO press release. “In addition, this year, AGCO is encouraging growers who would like to see their custom applicator nominated to contact their ag retailer to make that request.”

Past nominees for Operator of the Year have consistently stood out for the exceptional commitment they demonstrate both on and off the field, and we expect 2014 will be no different,” says Mark Sharitz, director of marketing for AGCO Application Equipment. “They are favored and trusted applicators who go the extra mile to serve their customers and demonstrate great pride in their work. And despite long hours in the field, they manage to successfully balance their job duties by volunteering time to support their communities.”

A panel of judges from AGCO will evaluate the nominees and select four finalists to be invited as the company’s guests to attend the 2014 Agricultural Retailers Association Annual Conference and Expo to be held Dec. 2nd to 4th in New Orleans.

The winner of the 2014 Operator of the Year award will be announced at the ARA Conference. All nominees will receive a certificate from AGCO recognizing their nomination for this prestigious award.

Ag retailers can submit nominations for 2014 Operator of the Year athttp://search.applylikeapro.com. The deadline for entries is Oct. 24.
