Agritechnica 2019 tour is a go

Agritechnica, held every second year in Hanover, Germany, is the world’s largest farm show. In 2017, Grainews arranged a bus tour to take a group of readers to see Agritechnica and a list of other German agricultural and tourist sites. We had so much fun, we’re doing it again.

This year’s trip runs from November 8 to 19. We’ll start in Hamelin, a small city near Hanover and the home of the legend of the Pied Piper. We’ll have two days to visit Agritechnica, using Hamelin as a base, then we’ll travel to Heidelberg for two nights. Heidelberg has a lovely, walkable downtown, and looks just like you think an old German city with a castle on a river would look. We’ll visit that castle, as well as the BASF Agriculture Centre and a nearby John Deere factory. From there, we’ll drive through the famous Black Forest and spend a couple of nights in the spa town of Baden-Baden. After that, we’ll use the town of Füssen in southwest Bavaria as a base for visits to another castle and the Fendt tractor factory. We’ll fly home from the Munich airport, a short drive from Füssen.

There will be cobblestoned streets, European-style factory innovations, and yes, there will be bratwurst. A comfortable bus will take us from place to place, and we will have knowledgeable, English-speaking guides for tours at our stops.

I will be your host, the person with the clipboard who makes sure that you know where to go and that you aren’t left behind at Agritechnica. Our machinery editor Scott Garvey will join us at the beginning of the tour. He’ll tell you what to expect from Agritechnica, and make sure you know where to find what you’re looking for once you get to the show.

I am really looking forward to this trip!
